DNA Sampling

  1. In each service that the User has purchased, the User will receive a set of tools consisting of a consumer consent, swab stick, DNA sample storage tube, manual, gloves, pouch containing absorbent pad, unique code, and letter of introduction from the representative Asa Ren to Users (hereinafter referred to as “DNA Test Kit”). The User is responsible for ensuring that the DNA sample taken is the User's own DNA sample. Users must follow the DNA sampling guide that Asa Ren has provided in the sampling tool or DNA Test Kit. After the DNA sample is taken, the User is required to send the User's DNA sample according to the shipping instructions in the guide that Asa Ren has provided. User's failure to follow each step of the DNA sampling guideline may result in the DNA sample being unable to be tested and/or the quality of the DNA sample testing results being too low. In this case, Asa Ren provides the service of re-sampling the User's DNA at no additional cost for one time only. In the event that after re-taking the DNA sample, the User still fails to provide a DNA sample according to the guidelines set by Asa Ren, then the User is deemed not to have exercised the User's right to continue the Service so that Asa Ren is released from all forms of compensation as a result of this. In the event that a User is a child under 18 years of age, and has obtained consent and/or been represented by a parent/guardian, DNA sampling must be carried out by the parent/guardian while remaining subject to these Terms of Service. The parent/guardian is fully responsible for the collection of the DNA sample

  2. Customers can take samples independently or through Home Service.

  3. In the Home Service option, Asa Ren takes DNA samples directly at the User's location from Asa Ren's health workers. To use this service, the User is required to provide confirmation to the Asa Ren team in advance, the Asa Ren team will then schedule the arrival of the DNA sampling service to the User's location according to the available schedule along with the price for the DNA sampling service at the location where the User is located. User's absence at the specified location, the User can submit a rescheduling within 6 (six) working hours to Asa Ren, more than that hour without notification from the User, the User has agreed to cancel the User's DNA sampling service and the User cannot submit a Return request.

  4. After taking the sample, the User must store the sample in the place provided according to the manual. The user must immediately send the results of the sampling to Asa Ren. If the sample is not sent immediately, the User is required to store the sample in accordance with the manual. The results of sampling that has been carried out by the User must be received at the Asa Ren lab no later than 7 (seven) days after the sampling was carried out.

  5. Delays in receiving the sample at the Asa Ren lab and/or errors in sample storage by the User and/or mishandling in sending samples can result in the sample being unfit for testing. Asa Ren can request a new sample only for 1 re-sampling at Asa Ren's expense.

  6. The Asa Ren DNA test is currently intended as a lifestyle and educational guide only. All information on a DNA Report, a DNA test report, cannot be used for medical diagnosis.

  7. Asa Ren implements Laboratory Technical Problem Risk prevention procedures or Laboratory Error Standards that are effectively implemented in testing laboratories to protect and prevent against technical and operational problems although problems may still occur. Errors may occur due to improper sampling by the User. Including but not limited to sample damage that may occur during delivery due to constraints such as inadequate documents, wrong labels, wrong address on the package, loss of samples at the testing laboratory or delays based on the fault of Asa Ren Partners. Obstacles that may prevent a laboratory from obtaining proper results, including, but not limited to: contamination of DNA samples; deficiencies in sampling by Users; non-interpretable results;problem data genotypes; and, User mislabeling of DNA samples. When such problems are encountered, the lab may request a new sample for only 1 re-sampling at Asa Ren's expense.

  8. You agree that Asa Ren has the right to analyze, test, extract and examine DNA sample at Asa Ren's Laboratory and/or Asa Ren's affiliated Laboratory and/or third party laboratories that work closely with Asa Ren.

Report Results and Limitations

Your DNA sample has been examined to identify your genetic profile in the form of an Asa Ancestry DNA Report. This is indicated by a number of specific Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) that represent a part of your DNA sequence. Your SNPs are thoroughly analyzed using standardized laboratory equipment and supplies and carried out by competent laboratory personnel.

The Asa Ancestry DNA report consists of Ancient Ancestry, Lineage, and Modern Ancestry. Ancient Ancestry is an analysis of tracing the origins of ancestors using Ancestry Informative Markers (AIMs) genetic markers that were conserved passed down from the past. Ancient Ancestry shows the predicted proportion of your genetic inheritance from the seven eras of ancient time and the various locations within those eras. Era in Ancient Ancestry this includes the Paleolithic Era to Post-Ancient Era. The Lineage report shows recorded migration patterns for your patrilineal and matrilineal (patrilineal and matrilineal) ancestors based on your DNA. Modern Ancestry uses AIMs to estimate geographic on existing modern populations. The genetic profile of each individual was compared with our reference data from 150+ populations stratified at the specific sub-continent/regional level to yield 37 groups. The report will reflect an estimate of the amount of your DNA, as a percentage, inherited from your ancestors in different sub-continents/regions. The Asa Ancestry examination involves a comparison of the genotype data for each individual with database the global population geneticWith the technology and methods we currently have, the reading of each data point in the DNA in the Asa Ancestry examination has an accuracy rate of more than 98.5% for each sample we test.

  1. Limitations

    • Tracking the migration of ancestral origins in the Lineage Report, which consists oflineages of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) and Y chromosome (yDNA), was carried out based on a database of certain haplogroups whose sequences are known. Lineage mtDNA is a matrilineal analysis and can be performed on both male and female DNA samples. Because most women don't have a Y chromosome, they can't do a yDNA test. Even so, for female DNA samples, patrilinealism can be seen from the results of the yDNA reports of the closest male relatives, such as older brothers, fathers, paternal uncles, and paternal grandfathers.

    • In the results of the Modern Ancestry DNA Report, you can find out the percentage of your DNA that is passed down from your ancestors in different sub-continents/regions. Modern Ancestry is a result report that measures the relevance of your DNA to database of ancestors in a specific geographic area. This relevance does not indicate that you have a certain nationality, but rather your resemblance or closeness to your ancestors in a geographic area based on testing your DNA sample.

    • Genetic ancestry tests can provide insight into the geographic origins of a person's ancestry. The accuracy of the test can be limited due to population migration and mixing over time. The mapping and distribution contained in the Asa Ancestry DNA report may change based on the latest fact findings. For more details, you can proceed to consult a genealogist.

    • Findings either unexpected or unexpected regarding ancestral origins may lead to certain psychological and social consequences. You agree and agree that Asa Ren is not responsible for these consequences arising from knowing the results of your Asa Ancestry DNA Report.

  2. Map and Calendar Era

    • map in the Asa Ancestry report uses a map with a mercator projection to make it easier for you to understand the mapping and distribution of your Asa Ancestry. But you need to understand that the weakness of this map projection causes an increase in the size of objects far from the equator. As a result, landmasses such as Greenland, Antarctica and Russia appear much larger than landmasses near the equator, such as Central Africa.

    • The calendar system in the report results uses the Gregorian calendar and the notation system for calendar eras in Asa Ancestry uses the phrase BCE (Before Common Era) or Before the General Era and the phrase CE (Common Era) or General Era. BCE and CE are alternative calendar eras from the use of BC (Before Christ or BC) and AD (Anno Domini or AD). CE and BCE are to refer to whether a year before or after year 1 in the Gregorian calendar.

    • Years in Ancient Ancestry and Modern Ancestry are assigned based on literature and genomic data related to archaeological finds. In the case of Lineage, the time period cannot be specified as it focuses only on the heritability of mitochondrial and Y-chromosome DNA variations.

The current information available in the literature and databases, as well as the bioinformatics and algorithms used in analyzing the data may be subject to change.
